Brand Research & Scoring
Every brand is scored on the PWW Integrity Score v1.0 — a 10-point framework across five categories: Fit & Function, Value Preservation, Transparency, Environmental Stewardship, and Social Responsibility. The full methodology is published on our Integrity Score page.
The Five Categories · 10 Points
v1.0The PWW Integrity Score v1.0 evaluates brands across five categories that together total 10 points. Fit & Function (3.5 pts) reflects whether a garment fits and performs — a garment that is never worn creates little value. Value Preservation (2.5 pts) measures durability, repairability, and resale support. Transparency (1.5 pts), Environmental Stewardship (1.5 pts), and Social Responsibility (1.0 pt) round out the framework.

Legacy scores. Some brands display a published overall score from an earlier evaluation (v0) while their detailed V1.0 category breakdown is still in progress. These are clearly labeled as overall scores and are never presented as a full V1.0 evaluation. Published scores are never recalculated automatically. Brands using synthetic fibers or plastic packaging receive an explicit ⚠️ warning regardless of other scores.

Brand Challenge
We use our scores to invite brands to improve — not just rank them. Each card below shows exactly what a brand would need to do to raise their PWW Integrity Score, and a draft outreach email you can send.
💡 Strategy: A public improvement pathway is less damaging than a silent low score — and brands that improve become editorial success stories.
Duer
Brand ChallengePantsCurrently 5/10 — here's what moves them to 7/10:
Your women's line offers 27" — extending this to men's would directly serve the smaller-men market and unlock our top fit recommendation.
You already have the factory transparency and materials story. B Corp would verify it at the governance level and unlock our Economic pillar.
Your factory list is published — great. A Fair Wear Foundation or Fair Trade certification on your production would lock in the Social pillar with third-party verification.
Warp + Weft
Brand ChallengePantsCurrently 6/10 — here's what moves them to 9/10:
Your petite line is women-only. A men's smaller inseam would directly unlock the primary fit criteria for our audience.
Your ethics claims are genuine but unverified by a third party. B Corp certification would lock in the Economic and Governance pillars and raise your score to 9/10.
Nudie Jeans and MUD Jeans both publish their full factory lists. Doing the same would increase your governance transparency significantly.
Brooklinen
Brand ChallengeT-Shirts & LoungewearCurrently 6/10 — here's what moves them to 8/10:
You have OEKO-TEX and a quality-first ethos. B Corp would elevate Brooklinen from "good ethics" to "verified mission-first" and raise your score to 8/10.
A 1%-for-the-Planet membership or donate-per-order model would unlock the Mission-Driven site value criterion and set you apart from other premium basics brands.
Alternative Apparel
Brand ChallengeT-ShirtsCurrently 5/10 — here's what moves them to 8/10:
Your brand-level ethics are strong — the cap comes entirely from Hanes Brands ownership. If Hanes ever divests, or if you're structured with ESG-linked governance, the Economic and Governance pillars unlock automatically.
Your brand story is good. The parent company has no group-level environmental commitment — pushing for SBTi or equivalent at the Hanes level would lift all brands in the portfolio.
Nudie Jeans
Brand ChallengePantsCurrently 8/10 — here's what moves them to 10/10:
You're one of the most ethical denim brands in the world — but B Corp would formalize the governance structure and push you to a perfect 9/10.
The repair program is a mission-aligned act — but a formal give-back model (1% for the Planet, climate pledge, etc.) would unlock the Mission-Driven site value criterion.
